See the Designing for Xbox and TV article for more information about optimizing your application for the 10-foot experience. It provides more space for controls than the compact single-row layout and it is easier to navigate using a gamepad for 10-foot. If you are designing for the 10-foot experience, go with the double-row layout. WinUI 2.2 or later includes a new template for this control that uses rounded corners. Laul isale7/5/2023 ![]() ![]() The university even cut six undergraduate majors, which were mostly in the foreign language department. In 2015, Hanycz led consolidation and prioritization efforts, ultimately firing a couple dozen prominent staff members and administrators. In October 2015, La Salle inaugurated its first lay person and first woman president, Colleen Hanycz, former president of Brescia University College. The construction of the Shoppes at La Salle and addition of The Fresh Grocer ended a decades-long food desert in Germantown. In 2007, La Salle acquired the former Germantown Hospital, now West Campus, and constructed The Shoppes at La Salle shopping center across the street in 2008. It was also during this era, in 1984, that La Salle was granted University status. It also continued to expand its property throughout the 1970s and 1980s, buying land along Chew Avenue in the Germantown section of the city, along with the Belfield Estate in 1984, and to the south of main-campus, the orphanage run by the Sisters of St. A year later, La Salle opened Olney Hall, its main academic building. La Salle admitted women to its regular classes in 1970, becoming a fully co-educational institution. Peale House on Belfield, the former Office of the President of La Salle During the 1960s, the high school section moved out due to the lack of space after many years of sharing the same campus with the College. Additional student housing was provided by purchasing or renting local homes, such as the house known as "The Mansion", on David and Logan Blain's Belfield Estate. It was also during this time that the first student residence halls were constructed at La Salle, mostly on land purchased from the former Belfield Country Club. Several new buildings were constructed in the 1940s and 1950s, including a new library, student union, and a science building. La Salle nearly closed again due to a lack of students during World War II, and the football team was disbanded due to a lack of players, but the college experienced a period of growth in the late 1940s. Funds raised from this drive also enabled La Salle to purchase a tract of land to the east of 19th Street, where Philadelphia had intended to build a city college. The college's closing was prevented by a 75th Anniversary Fund Drive in 1938, spearheaded by Philadelphia businessman John McCarthy. The main academic building on campus, College Hall was unable to be finished due to a lack of funds, and the college nearly closed in the late 1930s. The 1930s proved to be a tumultuous decade for La Salle, which was nearly bankrupt after being unable to sell the 1240 North Broad Street property. The new location had a suburban feel with ample land, but was linked to the city by trolleys and the newly constructed Broad Street Subway. Due to space constraints, in 1930 La Salle moved to its current campus at the intersection of 20th Street and Olney Avenue in the Logan neighborhood of the city. In 1886, due to the development of the Center City district, La Salle moved to a third location, the former mansion of Michael Bouvier, the great-great-grandfather of Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis, at 1240 North Broad Street. Joseph's College at 1234 Filbert Street in Center City, Philadelphia. La Salle soon moved to the building vacated by St. 2nd Street in the Olde Kensington section of Philadelphia. La Salle College was founded in March 1863 as an all-male college by Brother Teliow and Archbishop James Wood of the Archdiocese of Philadelphia. ![]() Ring alarm pro virtual security7/5/2023 ![]() This device uses a combination of active sensors and advanced navigation algorithms to fly along your custom, predetermined paths when triggered by a Ring Alarm sensor or within the Ring App. Available starting today in the United States via invitation only, Always Home Cam charts a new path forward for home security cameras. She taught me the ins-and-outs of the electronic medical record (EMR) system used to access and update each patient’s chart. How long did it take to be trained?Īfter I was hired, I trained for about one month, then was paired with another scribe who had prior experience so I could shadow her twice a week in the clinic. I was looking for an opportunity to work closely alongside physicians and observe their clinical decision making firsthand, which is why it was such a good fit for me. He highly recommended the position as a great way to gain clinical experience before starting medical school. I found out about medical scribing from an alumni of my graduate program, George Squared, who worked as a scribe in the same ENT clinic where I’m currently employed. How did you find out about medical scribing? In general, a medical scribe helps physicians provide more effective and efficient care by saving them time by documenting findings from patient exams and assessments. On a typical day, each physician in the office sees 20 to 35 patients for a wide range of needs, as well as pre-op and post-op consultations. What does a medical scribe do?Īs a scribe in an Otolaryngology clinic (also called “ENT”, for “ear, nose and throat”), I’ve transcribed hundreds of physician-patient encounters, medical histories, and diagnostic test results while working closely to assist pediatric otolaryngologists in the delivery of patient care. The benefits of being a medical scribe include gaining more experience in a medically related environment, earning income to pay off loans, saving money for medical school, and shadowing physicians while working closely alongside them. The medical scribe profession is an emerging field that some medical school applicants pursue while in college or during a gap year. Now, during graduate school, she is working to expand her knowledge of human anatomy and physiology, while also working as a medical scribe in an ENT clinic and volunteering as an EMT in her hometown. During that time, she also served as a Red Cross volunteer at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center. Having grown up in a rural, medically underserved town in Virginia, Morgan appreciated the seminars and discussions focused on creating a more equitable healthcare system with improved access and delivery of medical services. While there, she participated in the NIH Academy where she learned more about the social determinants of health. Medical school: Applying to MD programs for matriculation in the Fall of 2023īio: After graduating from college, Morgan spent two years in biomedical research at the National Cancer Institute, studying mechanisms of drug resistance in Ewing Sarcoma. Julbo quickshift 4s7/5/2023 ![]() ![]() Designed for serious skiing, deep powder, or freshly groomed corduroy, Moonlight protects and supports your eyes so you can focus on what matters: your next turn. The frameless design and spherical lens are inspired by our popular Spacelab and fit all styles of helmets. ![]() Moonlight provides an ultra-wide field of vision for those with small to medium-sized faces while offering premium comfort in a superlight 110-gram goggle plus the great visual performance of our Spectron lenses. ![]() The frameless construction and cylindrical lens ensure perfect style, a field of vision, and fit, while our REACTIV photochromic lenses guarantee the optimal visual quality, whatever the weather. Thanks to this Julbo innovation, the goggles are flexible both going uphill and down, whatever the length or intensity of effort. Giving you new ways of using ski and snowboard goggles, OuickShift Includes the Switch Air system, which guarantees active control of goggle ventilation and comfort through the use of two drop-outs on the bottom of the frame. The perfect companion when aiming for the peaks. Julbo has every point covered with a helmet that’s lightweight (360 g without the ear pads), ventilated and dual-standard (EN 1077 and ASTM F2040 for skiing and EN 12492 for mountaineering) without compromising on comfort or style. Designed for skiers and snowboarders who practice off the beaten track on challenging terrain where gear has to be perfectly adapted to risk and effort, both going up and down. Peak combines the certifications and expertise necessary for faultless protection in the mountains. If somehow they could fold out, or slide into the frame rather than be completely removed, that would be something special.Julbo has some cool new products for the coming season, including the trick Peak helmet, the QuickShift 4S, Moonlight, Shadow goggles, and Rush, Fury, Spark, and Tahoe sunglasses. In essence, you get two different types of goggles in one, and additional options are always good. The concept is sound, they certainly create a lot more airflow, but this is balanced against the chance of still getting spray in your eyes. The only time I've dropped them was when taking my goggles and helmet off at the same time, they pinged off and landed in the nearest puddle, of course, reminding me that care is needed not to lose them. Reattaching I found easiest with the goggles stashed on my helmet and with left and right printed on them they simply clip into place. Simply pull off the segments and stick them in your nearest pocket. Removing and attaching the Switch Air System is much easier than at first it seems. Given the conditions I've been riding in, the ventilated mode makes the most sense although there is still a risk of getting spray in your eyes, which I did on one or two occasions. With the extra ventilation, you can feel more air instantly and any fog is quickly cleared as soon as you start moving. ![]() Julbo suggests that hot and humid conditions will lead to fogging up, but mild, wet winters can create the same issue. It's when the lower sections are removed that the goggles feel different. Wearing them fully assembled, they are comfortable and snug fit on the face and feel like a normal set of goggles, as they should. The Quickshift Goggles give excellent vision and their large size gives great peripheral vision and all-round clarity. On my IXS Trigger, full-face helmet the strap needed to be at its longest and there was no spare space around the goggles once in position, it was a very tight, or perfect fit, depending on which way you look at it. Given the size of the goggles, they look better with a larger open face helmet of the enduro-style or a full face rather than a 'trail' style lid. The fit is good and comfortable, the grippy strap holds well on the back of a helmet and it’s easy to adjust the length. Both sets are a two-layer design to further prevent misting and fogging up on the trail. Given it's a typical British winter, the clear lens has been the lens of choice for all the testing. The goggles come with two lenses, one of which is Cat 2 (tinted) and the other Cat 0 (clear). Compatible with all helmets, including full face.Interchangeable lenses, available in clear and low light. ![]() Piano tuner nyc7/5/2023 ![]() ![]() Watching him work, I can appreciate the ancient art in which he has been trained. I feel the shame of not having continued my lessons as my mother wished. He tells me the action on my piano has become stiff from underuse and urges me to find ways to have the piano played more often. A master of the piano, he works alone, with no apprentice to watch him gently tugging on the tuning wrench to loosen or tighten the strings. He has often been asked to set up programs to train tuners, he says, but nothing has come of it. Of course, they have to have a basic ear for the sounds, but one does not have to be musical or skilled.” I ask if he has trained successors, and he confesses he has not. As I sit across the living room while he works, I ask Ingo whether he could teach anyone - even me - to tune a piano. ![]() He speaks fondly of each of them, though none was able to tune a piano. Ingo has tuned pianos for such luminaries as Arthur Rubinstein, Marian McPartland, George Shearing and Leonard Bernstein. He knows where this piano spent much of its life - “an elderly woman on Park Avenue owned it and I took care of it” - and was pleased when he found a welcoming new home for it. To him, my piano is an old friend, his visits to it like returns to his childhood neighborhood. Perhaps the sheep are different.” I purchased the piano from Ingo several years ago, so he knows it well. “This is Scottish felt, and for some reason it is no longer available. “The felt in this piano cannot be duplicated today, and it makes a difference in the sound,” Ingo explains. Ingo tells me that the felt in my 1936 Steinway is the original. His father, who once tuned for Sergei Rachmaninoff in Vienna, trained Ingo rigorously, demanding that his son master the construction of the piano before learning to tune one. ![]() Best email verifier online7/5/2023 ![]() Quickly load mailing lists in program to check email validity - big time saver!.Our email verifier can connect to any ODBC compatible database like MS Access, MS SQL, MYSQL, Oracle, etc. Verify the email addresses directly from the database without import-export - you save a lot of time and manual work thanks to the email address verifier.Decrease the Internet traffic and save your bandwidth which means you reduce your costs by focusing only on real prospects. This means you can protect your email server domain from getting blacklisted and increase your email campaigns' performance. ![]()

For those interested, I also developed Describing Words which helps you find adjectives and interesting descriptors for things (e.g. So this project, Reverse Dictionary, is meant to go hand-in-hand with Related Words to act as a word-finding and brainstorming toolset. That project is closer to a thesaurus in the sense that it returns synonyms for a word (or short phrase) query, but it also returns many broadly related words that aren't included in thesauri. I made this tool after working on Related Words which is a very similar tool, except it uses a bunch of algorithms and multiple databases to find similar words to a search query. So in a sense, this tool is a "search engine for words", or a sentence to word converter. It acts a lot like a thesaurus except that it allows you to search with a definition, rather than a single word. The engine has indexed several million definitions so far, and at this stage it's starting to give consistently good results (though it may return weird results sometimes). For example, if you type something like "longing for a time in the past", then the engine will return "nostalgia". It simply looks through tonnes of dictionary definitions and grabs the ones that most closely match your search query. The way Reverse Dictionary works is pretty simple. ![]() |
